Trail Riding at Marshall Creek Ranch

Print Trail Riding Info.

At Marshall Creek Ranch, we’ll take you on the ride of a lifetime. Within the 12,000 wooded acres surrounding beautiful Lake Grapevine, you will encounter gorgeous, towering Cottonwood trees, lush pines, and abundant wildlife. As you make your way to the lake, you will cross creeks, traverse changing terrains, and maneuver through heavily wooded hills.

Once at the lake, you will thrill to the "wind in your hair” as you gallop along the shoreline past Great Blue Herons, beautiful white Egrets, and even our Red-Headed Vultures.

We have 26 horses on site, but we keep our riding groups small (anywhere from four to eight), to accommodate both the beginning rider as well as the novice. For those new to horseback riding, we are able to monitor your progress while you delight to discover you can handle a 1200 lb horse quite capably. For the experienced rider, we can take you from one challenge to the next as we have specially designed trails that will suit your level. Due to the limited size of each group, and the specialized levels from which to choose, reservations are mandatory, as we book out solid each weekend.

Once you have a reservation in place, be sure and dress appropriately when you come out to ride. This is not the type of riding where you are following behind 20 other horses in a large pasture. You will be riding rustic, traditional trails, with thorny branches, spider webs, poison ivy, heavy creek crossings, and open trails where we teach you to be in control of your own horse. Doesn't this sound like fun?!! Of course it is!! The lakeshore is fantastic, and the wildlife is exciting. Beginner to Advanced, we have just what you’re looking for. You can call us any day of the week to schedule your trail ride. We are located on Lake Grapevine off of Hwy 114 and White Chapel in Southlake.

Please, no shorts, capris, sandals, or ankle socks. You want to be completely covered from the waist down. Shoes with a heel are helpful, but not mandatory. Don't forget to bring your camera! Your Trail Guide will carry it for you in the saddlebag, so you won’t have to worry about juggling it. They will be sure to capture this exhilarating experience on film for you. If you forget one, you’ll be sorry. The pictures taken out on the beach are fantastic!
